Bride on abandoned rail bridge in Ottawa

Kimiko & Brenden’s Modern Wedding

Kimiko and Brenden’s planned a modern wedding in a few senses of the word. They were married at the First Unitarian Congregation, which is a stunning example of 1967 modern architecture by James B. Craig, reminiscent of Unitarian designs by Frank Lloyd Wright. According to Craig, the building “had to express unity, freedom, simplicity, openness, contemporaneity, humility and religious humanism.”

After the ceremony, we ventured over to an abandoned rail bridge, providing a backdrop of graffiti-clad rusty metalwork for some contemporary, modern wedding photos.
